Dungeons are special challenges throughout the game with a special mechanic, a boss and unique rewards for each one. Entering a Dungeon requires a specific Key to that Dungeon, and there are 4 tiers for each Dungeon with increasing difficulty and rewards.
Keys for each Dungeon start dropping at a higher level than the Tier 1 level of the Dungeon, so you’re likely to come back to them later for their rewards, or use them on subsequent characters. Right clicking a Dungeon Key will show its location on the world map.

Completing Dungeons also provide a skip through certain parts of the campaign, as the entrance point is earlier in the campaign while the exit from the Dungeon will be further ahead in a different point in the campaign. Completing a Dungeon for the first time can also grant two passive skill points and one idol slot upgrade.
As previously mentioned, each Dungeon has a special mechanic, and in order to complete the Dungeon it is strongly recommended to interact with it. This is done by using the skill that is provided inside each Dungeon (used with D by default).

Lightless Arbor is a Dungeon where you traverse through darkness with a burning light source that loses its power when you take damage. Enemies in the darkness also deal substantially higher damage and take less damage. You may slay certain enemies to refresh power of your light source. Should you complete the Dungeon, at the end of it awaits The Vaults of Uncertain Fate that you may spend all your hard earned gold away for great rewards.
Soulfire Bastion is a Dungeon where you fight through undead hordes with two strong damage types, using a Soulfire Shield that switches protection between the two damage types. It is fueled by Souls that you obtain from slaying enemies. These same Souls are then also used to gamble with the Soulfire Gambler at the end of the Dungeon for powerful items.
Temporal Sanctum is a Dungeon where you must travel between two different Eras to get through it, and at the end of it you’ll have the option to use The Eternity Cache to create a Legendary item by combining an Exalted and Unique item with Legendary Potential.

Dungeon Key Charms are modifier items that can be used to modify your Dungeon experience. For example, you can add lots of Loot Lizards or open a shortcut portal directly to fight the boss.
Dungeon Keys can be used to purchase Dungeon Key Charms in Divine Era’s Maj’elka.
